07/01/24

Qatar is ready to welcome the world again as host of the AFC Asian Cup 2023. The much awaited event will be held from January 12 - February 10, 2024. Kick-Off coincides with various festivals and events organised by Qatar Tourism providing a packed schedule both pre and post match.

The event strategy supports Qatar`s goal of welcoming over six million visitors a year by 2030. Moreover, it aims to increase the contribution of the travel and tourism sector to Qatar’s gross domestic product while doubling job opportunities. In addition, the AFC hosting demonstrates Qatar’s ongoing sporting legacy and showcases its ability to host mega events.

As a result the State is reaping the rewards from its investment in world class tourism infrastructure, which includes Hamad International Airport and national airline Qatar Airways. Doha metro and tram network (which transported 18.2 million passengers during the FIFA World Cup) will provide easy access to matches and visitors can also enjoy Qatar`s renowned hospitality, inviting hotels, leisure attractions and picturesque landscapes.

Planned events include Shop Qatar from January 1 to 27, 2024 which features incredible discounts across 13 participating malls and shopping districts. Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from February 5 to 11, 2024.

Further events include the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) runs from February 7 – 17 at the Family Zone Expo at Al Bidda Park. In addition, the Qatar Kite Festival in Doha old port will be held from Jan 25 – Feb 3 and the International Horticultural Doha Expo 2023 will continue in Al Bidda park until late March.
