Qatar and Uzbekistan increase economic ties featuring ICT

08/09/24

Qatar and Uzbekistan have actively undertaken high-level state meetings this past year to discuss ways of increasing economic co-operation while enhancing trade ties.

Meetings have focussed on digital technologies, where there is already proactive co-operation which is already harbouring significant progress. Demonstrating such collaboration, Qatar will be a partner country in next weeks global ICT week 2024 in Uzbekistans capital city Tashkent. Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar Development Authority and other big Qatari stakeholders will be in attendance.

Earlier this year, Uzbekistan`s Ministry of Digital Technologies attended the Web Summit 2024 held in Doha. Further arrangements have been undertaken to organise a visit by a delegation of Qatari business people to Uzbekistan later this year in October.

Uzbekistan is considered an important destination for Qatari investors, who are keen to learn about investment opportunities in the country. Similarly, Qatar is an attractive destination for Uzbeki investment. As a result, recent discussions have highlighted the most important sectors that investors can enter, as well as activating previously signed agreements between both Chambers of Commerce. Such progress demonstrates the opportunities and possibilities that are available in Qatar for companies who wish to take advantage of the numerous business establishment incentives and benefits.

Most importantly the upcoming meetings will allow both sides to learn more about available investments, which are expected to significantly contribute to an increased volume of trade between both countries in the future.

Moreover, Qatar Chamber stressed its support for partnerships and joint ventures. Further priorities include the importance of investment incentives and legislation to protect both parties. The Chamber expects the upcoming visits and meetings to Uzbekistan in September and October will enable Qatari business people to become closely acquainted with the investment climate and build relationships with their Uzbeki counterparts.
