Qatar's Government unveils Procurement Plan Forum 2025

24/11/24

Qatars Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank and Qatar Chamber, recently hosted the second edition of the Government Procurement Plan Forum.

The event highlights Qatar's commitment to fostering a robust and diversified economy by strengthening the private sector's role as a key driver of growth and innovation. Furthermore, the forum serves as a platform for presenting Qatar's government procurement strategy for 2025, with a focus on enhancing transparency, collaboration and business opportunities for local companies.

The initiative is aligned with Qatar's broader vision to create a competitive, dynamic environment that supports entrepreneurship, attracts investment and empowers businesses to thrive. As part of the agenda, the government outlined plans to release 3,303 tenders across 21 economic sectors in 2025. This is a significant increase from 2024, underscoring Qatar’s growing commitment to diversifying its economy. Additionally, the government anticipates engaging over 189 economic activities, in contrast to 100 activities in the previous year, based on the international ISIC classification.

Approximately 71% of these tenders will be concentrated in five core sectors: Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Administrative and Support Services, Wholesale and Retail Trade, Professional and Scientific Services, and Manufacturing and Repair. This focus on key industries reflects Qatar's strategic priorities in infrastructure development, technological innovation and economic diversification.

In addition to procurement plans, the forum examined critical topics including financing for raw materials, cost competitiveness and improving access to local markets. These sessions were designed to provide actionable insights that support the growth of Qatar's private sector and enhance its ability to compete on a global scale.

Importantly, the forum enjoyed strong participation from various government ministries including the Ministry of Interior, Transport, Public Health and Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
