Qatars Hamad Port has emerged as a key trans-shipment hub in the GCC region, showcasing significant growth in the transit cargo sector.

From January to November 2024, the port recorded a remarkable 23% increase in transshipments, with transit shipments representing 47% of the total container volume during this period. Moreover, in November, Hamad Port handled 135 vessels and managed a substantial volume of cargo, including 107,078 TEUs, 7,600 freight tonnes (F/T), 73,434 F/T and 8,441 RORO units, showcasing its growing capacity and efficiency. Such growth underscores the rising importance and confidence in Hamad Port's role in global trade.

At a recent industry event, officials highlighted the port's expanding connectivity, noting the addition of more than 100 maritime destinations worldwide, both directly and indirectly, thanks to an extensive network of shipping lines. This extensive connectivity reflects the port’s pivotal position in facilitating seamless global trade.

Most importantly, Mwani Qatar, the organization overseeing Hamad Port, has focused on developing state-of-the-art infrastructure that meets the highest international standards. This infrastructure includes advanced smart technologies for inventory and operations management, further enhancing operational efficiency. Moreover, the port continues to strengthen partnerships with both local and international stakeholders, ensuring smooth and reliable logistics operations.

As a result, the strategic development of Hamad Port has helped position Qatar as a major player in global trade, enhancing the country’s economic competitiveness. Moving forward, Mwani Qatar is committed to further developing the port's services and infrastructure, striving to balance economic efficiency with environmental sustainability. Moreover, the long-term vision aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030, aiming to create diversified and sustainable economic growth through integrated logistics centers.
